As a product leader who worked a decade in B2B SaaS, I've always been fascinated by what our competitors were up to.
Keeping tabs on rival products wasn't a chore - it was my secret weapon. I've copied great features and made them even better, dodged bullets by learning from others' missteps, and brought to market amazing products by essential gaps.
While the common wisdom is to focus on the users and ignore the competitors, I've seen firsthand how competitor insights can transform a product roadmap, and staying informed really paid off.
Product teams are well equipped with tools to gather, analyze and gain insights from Customer Feedback. No such thing exists for competitors, and it's still largely done manually, with outdated information scattered across Google Docs and Jira pages.
